The aims of "Off Our Rockers" are to develop a support network across the states, to look at legal and financial rights of these grandparents. Also to liaison with the relevant authorities to gain greater recognition and support for our grandchildren. To advocate and increase government awareness to the nature and extent of the problems. 

To date we have seen some of our goals realised as the group meets members are able to voice their feelings and problems knowing they are not alone and have at last found someone who understands. This in it self helps relieve stress and allows for friendship and communication with members supporting each other between meetings. 

We seek to find funding for education, medical and therapeutic needs, also to help meet legal costs. Many grandchildren do not have Health Care Cards or are in an ambulance contribution scheme. 

The churches roll to meet the spiritual and emotional needs has proved rewarding as they members express their relief of receiving this support and unloading what has been years of carrying shame and emotional trauma of having seen their own children lost to death, marriage break up and in many cases lost to the drug scene.
